IRVINGTON, NJ — In May, Mayor Tony Vauss announced he would be holding his first Mayor’s Ball in September. Although the mayor has managed to keep most of the promises he made on the campaign trail, he was off by a little on this one, but only a little. He recently announced he would host his first ball Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 6 p.m. at Nanina’s in the Park Restaurant in Belleville.
“We’re having it at Nanina’s In the Park and we’re hoping to get 150 tables,” Vauss said Friday. Sept. 19. “Things haven’t changed at all. A party is still a party. It’s for everyone to come out and have a good time and that’s what we do.”
Vauss has attended East Orange Mayor Lester Taylor’s Mayoral Balls and quite a few others in the Newark area since he was sworn into office July 1, 2014. But he said he is hoping his ball will outmatch all those that have preceded it.
“I don’t think it’s a rivalry,” Vauss said on Saturday, March 7, at Taylor’s second Mayor’s Ball. “All I can say for everybody is ‘stay tuned.’”
